Don't Lie to Me

Rated PG-13 for talks about drug abuse

Kat sat with Justin in her silver convertible. They were parked in front of the Youth Center.

Kat placed her elbows on the steering wheel, placing her head in her hands.

“Justin, do you believe me?” she asked, looking at him.

“Yeah, I guess so, Kat,” he shrugged.

“C’mon, be serious!” she exclaimed.

“I am!” he reasoned. Kat started to drive off.

“You know I’d never hurt you, nor anyone,” she said.

“I guess so,” he nodded. She started to cry and Justin looked at her. “Kat, please don’t cry.”

“Justin, you’re the only person I can trust and how can I trust you if you don’t trust me,” she sobbed.

“Kat, drive to the lake,” Justin commanded.

“What?” Kat asked.

“Just go to the lake,” he said. She did so.They got out and walked to the dock. They sat on the dock, taking off their shoes and socks. They dangled their feet into the water.

“What’s this really about, Kat?” Justin asked.

“I don’t want to hurt you anymore, Justin,” Kat sobbed, looking out at the sunset.

“Hurt me?” he questioned.

“Justin, remember when I blacked out yesterday when we sparred?” she asked. He nodded. “Thanks because I’ve been draining myself.”

“Draining?” he asked.

“I’m taking drugs, Just!” she exclaimed. He wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Kat,” he started to cry, shoving his head into her abdomen.

“I’m stopping. My parents are sending me to rehab sometime soon if I don’t clean up right away,” she explained. “I am getting clean, though.” He looked up at her. “I’ll be with you soon, dear.” He smiled at her softly.

“I love you, Kitten,” he said.

“And I love you, Justin,” she said, smiling softly, leaning down and kissing his cheek. She held him as they watched the sunset together.

Soon they’d be together and Kat would be better.

“Someday, Justin,” she whispered as he fell asleep in her arms, “Someday.”
