Chapter Seven – Reach Too High
And I will never see the same way
And I will learn to say goodbye to yesterday
And I will never cease to fly if held down
And I will always reach too high
Cause I’ve seen
I’ve seen twilight

Syd sat in the hospital, crying as she held Jack’s
hand.
“Baby,” Syd whispered, running her
other hand through his braids. “Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Please!? Wake up!” She threw her upper body onto him,
sobbing harder. “I love you so much. I never meant to hurt you, Jack, never, ever, ever, ever. I don’t love Boom,
I love . . . I love you. I miss you, I mean, you’re here, but you’re not here-here, you know, communicating with
me right now . . .” She stopped. “God, I sound like Bridge!” She paused, looking at the white, colorless
room as she lay on her true love, who was slowly leaving her forever. She started to cry again. “I didn’t know
what happened, Jack. Boom and I were talking, he kissed me, I kissed back, next thing I know, he’s holding me tight
in bed, nude. I am so sorry.” She softly kissed her boyfriend’s cold lips. “Don’t leave me, Jack,
don’t ever leave me.” She held onto him, softly crying.
Bridge and Ashley walked into the room Taylor was in.
Bridge gasped when he saw Syd holding Jack as he slept in the room.
“Sydney?”
Ashley questioned. The small girl looked up and gave them a sad smiled, wiping her tears. She sat up in the chair she scooted
next to Jack’s bed. “What happened?”
“Boom and Jack got in a fight because of
me, Ashie. Now, look at him! I’m losing the only man I could ever truly love!” Syd cried. “Why are you here?”
“My mom is in this room,” Bridge
said, trying not to cry. Syd, still crying, motioned for him to sit on her lap. He did so and cried in her arms as she started
to calm down. Ashley left them alone together
Z stirred in her fiancée’s arms. She opened
her eyes slowly.
“Sky,” she whispered. “Ohhh.”
Her hands flew to her month pregnant stomach.
“Are you alright?” Sky asked, wanting
to cry.
“Of course I a. . . ohhhhh,” Z screamed.
“Z?” Sky asked as she continued to
scream. She started to cry.
“Sky,” she took in a sharp breath
and let it out quickly. He ran out to the hall.
“Someone!? Someone!? Help us!” Sky
yelled.
Kat sat in her room, taking shots of rum.
“I hate him,” she slurred drunkly.
Cruger entered her room.
“Kat!” he exclaimed, taking the bottle
and shot glass. “Those are against regulation!”
“Screw regulation!” she slurred.
“Screw you...” She slummed against her wall, going unconscious. He kneeled in front of her.
“Kat? Kat. Kat! Kat!? Kat, look at me,
Kat!” he said, slapping her cheek lightly a few times. She looked up at him.
“You have a little gray in your eye...”
she started, fading again.
“Katherine, look at me!” he said.
She looked at him again.
“I hate you,” she slurred.
“Doesn’t everyone,” he said,
scooping her in his arms and putting her in bed. “You’re going to sleep and get sober. I’ll send Ashley
in to help you if you need anything. We’ll talk later.” He left her alone.
She went into tears, hugging her blankets to
her body.
